Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong hands-on expertise in CATIA V5 including Part Design, Surface Modeling, Assembly Design, Drafting, Structural Analysis, and Kinematic Simulations.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, drawing interpretation, and engineering drawing standards.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes for sheet metal, castings, forgings, machined components, blow molding, and injection-molded parts.
- Experience in Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
- Proficiency in benchmarking, teardown analysis, and reverse engineering methodologies.
- Experience in 1D tolerance stack-up analysis and dimensional variation studies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and schedule commitments.
- Working knowledge of automotive regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design and develop automotive components, including sheet metal, plastic, casting, and machined parts, using CATIA V5.
- Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings in compliance with engineering standards.
- Design and develop jigs, fixtures, test devices, and tooling assemblies to support product validation and manufacturing processes.
- Manage engineering changes throughout the product lifecycle, including updates to 3D models, drawings, and related documentation.
- Perform reverse engineering activities, converting STL scan data into surface and solid models for product development and benchmarking.
- Support Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives, teardown studies, competitor benchmarking, and cost optimization projects.
- Conduct 1D tolerance stack-up analysis to evaluate dimensional variation and assembly feasibility.
- Manage product data, engineering documentation, and change management processes through PLM systems such as Windchill.
- Develop engineering concepts based on customer requirements and translate them into feasible design solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, testing, quality, procurement, and suppliers to ensure timely product development.
- Ensure designs meet performance, quality, manufacturability, regulatory, and customer requirements.
- Support prototype development, testing, validation, and production launch activities.
